Farm Friend and Farmgirl Friday #8

Hello farm friends, I sure hope you are having a great May. We’ve been so busy and I haven’t been a good blog buddy over the last few months. Last Friday Blogger was down in the morning so I wasn’t able to post Farm Friend Friday. I do apologize for the inconvenience for all of you who wanted to join up. Things are going fine here at Verde Farm but what a difficult spring this has been.

It has been raining for at least 140 days, or so it seems. I’ve considered building the ark and I know we have a good start on the animals we would need to take with us. We started our vegetable garden in April but have yet to fully finish it due to the ongoing weather trials. 3 of our 100 year old trees fell during high wind storms and having those cleared out left a big mess. I will not complain too much though, as those south of here are in a crisis of horrific proportions.

I feel so terrible for the farm communities that are going to be flooded to help the greater good. There is just no good answer to these situations and I can’t imagine what they are facing and hope it isn’t as bad as it could be.

On a positive note, we believe Pansy is pregnant although not 100% sure. She is certainly getting bigger and all signs point in the right direction. We just had 20 baby ducklings this week and they are absolutely precious. If any of you are interested in muscovies, we will be selling these. Some are solid yellow, our first solids, which will turn white as they grow. Their momma has already had them in the pond.

So, I hope all is well in your world and look forward to reading up on you over the next few days...

All you farm loving bloggers can join us here on Friday’s to share posts about your farm: house, cooking, crafting, animals, gardening, photography and more. Hi Amy! I've been thinking about you and figured with Spring days you were very busy! Our spring hasn't been so great either... I'm beginning to think nothing will grow outside of the greenhouse. We've actually had a few sunny days in a row and another one "scheduled" for tomorrow. Maybe we're finally into spring for good.

I can hardly wait to see if Pansy will be having piglets! How fun.

Looking forward to hearing more from you all and thanks again for hosting this every week or at least when blogger is cooperative!

~Chris

Hello MM!
I've missed you. I figured you and hubby have been busy on the farm and I knew you were working away from home a lot also. It's good to see the note from you. That's too bad about your trees...you hate to see that happen but like you said it's been worse for those down south. We could sure use your rain...we got about 1/2 an inch and that's the second time since we had snow in the winter that we've had any moisture to speak of. Oh goodness...I'll be watching for pictures of your sweet ducks...wish we lived closer as I'd buy a few. I hope you have a wonderful Friday and weekend my friend. Take care of yourself.
Maura :)

Amy Thank you again for hosting Farm Friend Friday it gets everyone to see what a farm is all about.
It is very strange weather and hard to get our crops in but we count our blessings, and give our prayers for all the people getting flooded out or going through these terrible fires. Great post. B

I missed you, lady! My heart also goes out to all the victims of recent weather. It's such a reality check to think that things could happen at any time to any of us. I'm sure glad God's in charge- I don't want to be!

My muscovies just started laying this month. I'm hoping they go broody soon so I can get some ducklings!

Thanks for hosting the blog hop. I love reading everyone's posts every week and finally decided to join in myself!

Amy, so sorry for the rough spring. Darn weather can make life very trying for farming, it'll either make you or break you!! Hang in there! I've missed your posts, although I can't say anything cause I too have been very busy and not a diligent blogger lately. Hope things dry up and get back to normal for you. Send all the animals my love especially Pansy (hoping for some piglets)! Have a great weekend!

Yay for Pansy! I can't even imagine the cuteness in store. Hopefully your suspicions are correct.
I know the carnage big trees can cause. We lost ten really old ones several years ago in one crazy gust of wind and it was a huge mess.
Hopefully your crazy spring settles down a bit and you can ease into your summer groove soon!

I sure hope you all start to dry out a little! Hopefully the rest of Spring and then Summer will really look up! Thank you for hosting again!

I'm sorry about all the rain you have had. The weather this spring has been so horrible in so many places. I was happy to read about the ducklings and also all the fun you are having with Farm Fridays.--Inger

Sounds like our place, so much going on and too much rain for the vegetable garden. Ducklings yay ~ Plus, the internet connection has been spotty, but oh well, blogger is here when the connection resumes and it is another day to blog, AFTER the farm chores and responsibilities of course!

Boy your site makes me wish I had a place to play of my own...even a patch to grow some greenbeans would be good.

My uncle has a couple of white ducks that had a bunch of babies a couple of weeks ago, but they all got picked off! Broke my heart!

Verde Farm where have you gone?? It is almost the end of June and you are still so quiet. I hope that everything is okay by you! I miss my farm connections and look forward to your return.
